Wild Banana Gallery, Wailuku Maui circa 2001
Wild Banana Gallery, Wailuku Maui circa 2001

Adrianne Kanekoa has been a lover of the arts all her life. During the years (1999-2004) that she was involved with Wild Banana arts project on Maui she co-curated many group and solo art exhibits, art events, art parties and art-music performances. The early days of the revitalization of old Wailuku town were jump started by this lively and occasionally controversial gallery and its now legendary events. The work of the project culminated in an international group exhibit called "International Underground" that was held in San Francisco California, over 30 artist from all over the world contributed work that lit up the rooms of an old victorian in SF's infamous Haight Ashbury district. Over the years she was privileged to meet and befriend many inspiring artists. Here is a list of links to some of her favorite artists many of which have shown with Wild Banana in the past and have since gone on to be recognized in the international art world.

Painting

Adrianne has been painting all her life. Although Adrianne never pursued a career in painting, she does enjoy painting for herself and for her family. This painting by Adrianne was done for Grandma Kanekoa's 80th birthday. It was inspired from a old photograph and shows Grandma as a young mother with her first born son William at the old family home in the jungles of Kipahulu.
